The New Idea EGT 80/80HD Tractor

G.E. convinced the New Idea Company of Coldwater, OH to allow them to run a line of OEM tractors for them at the same time G.E. would continue to run their own tractors down the assembly line. They sported the New Idea signature two-toned "Bittersweet" and "Buff" color scheme.

The R36 Rider was actually made by Wheel Horse for New Idea after they had taken over the operations of the Elec-Trak product line from G.E. Is was identical the the Elec-Trak ER8-36 with the exception of the color scheme and decals of course and curiously the steering column was square verses the rounded column found on G.E. riders. The R36 was produced only one year- 1975 and then production ceased. No one is quite sure how many R36 riders were made but there could not have been too many. All together, only 3,168 total New Idea Tractors of the other five models combined were produced over a two year period. Surprisedly, many must still be around as they come up for sale pretty frequently.
